VIMUKTI Pothnal
hosted the Ambedkar Utsav program for women on August 29, 2024, with
a focus on empowering women through education and awareness. The
event, held at the VIMUKTI premises, highlighted the critical role
of knowledge in driving social change, particularly for women. Fr.
Satish Fernandes, the director of VIMUKTI, emphasized the need to
challenge deep-rooted superstitions and raise awareness to promote
women's economic and social advancement. He underscored that
education is the key to breaking free from societal constraints.
Jayashree Dotharbandi, the taluk coordinator and chief guest,
reiterated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's belief that social change must be
supported by a robust legal framework. he highlighted how the
Constitution, crafted by Ambedkar, has endowed women with essential
rights and privileges, fostering their skills, confidence, and
ability to contribute meaningfully to society.The event also saw
active participation from prominent members of women’s self-help
groups, who engaged in discussions and activities, further
reinforcing the message of empowerment and equality.
