In Ward No. 2 of
Pothnal, garbage disposal in alleys and around Ambedkar Bhavan is
causing foul odors and a mosquito menace, affecting around 30
households. The situation worsens during events at Ambedkar Bhavan
due to poor hygiene. Concerned about the health risks for children,
members of the Village Development Committee (VDC) of Vimukti
Charitable Trust, Pothnal, have submitted a petition to the village
panchayat officers, urging for improved waste management in the
inner areas of the village. They requested the provision of
alternative waste disposal systems if the regular garbage vehicle
cannot reach these areas. Panchayat staff and several VDC members
were present during the petition submission, demanding immediate
action. Many families have expressed deep appreciation for the VDC
members' humanitarian work.
