VCT Pothnal has
organized mass awareness programs in the targeted villages of Manvi,
Sindhanoor, Maski, and Shirvar talukas in Raichur District from 2nd
of June to 30th of July 2024. A lack of awareness about human
trafficking is the biggest barrier to preventing it. Most victims
are either women or minors (individuals under 18 years of age who
are recruited, transported, transferred, harbored, or received for
exploitation). Kidnappers commonly force women into commercial sex
and indentured servitude. Bride trafficking has also been a
persistent issue due to skewed sex ratios in certain areas.To
address this, VCT has been creating mass awareness in schools,
Anganwadi Centers (AWCs), public places, and residential areas to
protect children and women from these heinous practices. Nearly 450
children, 55 mothers, and 135 other individuals have benefited from
this program.
