“Feed the hungry,
clothe the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the unwanted, care for
the ill, love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have
done unto you”- Steve Maraboli.
Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the
light of love to those who need it most. The Star of Bethlehem
shines even today, it helps us to walk together on the right path of
fraternity and of solidarity. The Christmas celebration at vimukti
premises brought together one and all as brothers and sisters to
spread the good news of peace, love and harmony. The Spirit of
Christmas reminded everyone that we should not be blinded by hatred,
violence, and injustice. The Christ-event was enacted through
carols, dance and Santa Claus which gave an expression to the human
values of caring, sharing and spreading the goodness and kindness.
The Chief guest of the day Fr. Sathish Fernandes, Vimukti Director,
Pothnal shared an inspiring Christmas message. As God the Father
gave his only son to humanity so also, we are called to give
ourselves to each other. Giving gifts is an easy task, but giving
oneself to the other needs great sacrifice.
The joy of Christmas was at its zenith when all the children from
the remote villages gathered at the Vimukti premises on 20th
December 2023 for the Christmas program. Christmas is a time of joy,
celebration and togetherness for many families in and around our
working area. However, for some families with children, it can also
be a time of financial struggle and stress. With the rising cost of
living many families find it difficult to provide their children
with a memorable Christmas gift. The colorful programme of the day
included the distribution of Gifts to our children. The children
were given Pants, Shirts and dresses for girls along with that
plenty of sweets were distributed. Then the cutting of the grand
cake by children was a delighted moment to all the children. After
the merrymaking, the children enjoyed a sumptuous lunch. We are
grateful to all the benefactors for helping and supporting the cause
materially. The programme included carols, dances, sharing gifts and
exchanging season’s greetings with each other. All the staff,
volunteers and management participated in the Christmas
celebrations.
