VCT Pothnal organized
mass awareness programs in Madlapur and Haravi villages of Manvi,
taluka, Raichur District, Karnataka on 12th 13th 19th and 20th of
September 2023. Lack of awareness of human trafficking is the
biggest barrier in preventing human trafficking, most of those
victimised are either women or minors (consisting of individuals
under 18 years of age who are recruited, transported, transferred,
harboured, or received for exploitation,). Kidnappers most commonly
force women into commercial sex and indentured servitude. Bride
trafficking has also been a consistent commodity due to skewed sex
ratios in certain areas. Keeping this thought in mind VCT has been
creating mass awareness in schools, AWCs, public places, and
residential area so that children and women are saved from these
evil practices. Nearly 523 people and 374 children have benefited
from this program.
