‘Health for all’-Vimukti Mobile Medical care unit inauguration- Making primary health care accessible for all: Vimukti Pothnal

Understanding the lack of medical access in remote villages of Manvi taluka, Vimukti Pothnal in collaboration with Catholic Health Caregivers Fund, New York inaugurated Mobile Medical care unit Van at vimukti premises. The main aim to see to the good health of the poor and marginalized through affordable Health care services without compromising on quality; to reach out the unreachable as far as possible; to care for the uncared-for people of the Society. The Medical care unit van will cover 50 villages of Manvi taluka which began April, 2023. The treatment and medicines will be given for free of cost weekly basis. Beneficiaries are provided health cards and records of their treatment are maintained. Periodical village, home, visits by doctor (in the case of bedridden patients), and counselling for patients, the elderly, family members, children, and caretakers. If any patient is not cured by the preliminary treatment, they will be referred to the district hospital.

Fr. Sathish Fernandes, Vimukti Director said, women in rural area are facing many challenges like malnutrition, lack of menstrual hygiene, maternal and child health and to tackle these problems Catholic Health Caregivers Fund, New York has donated this mobile medical van to Vimukti to provide affordable healthcare facilities to the rural marginalized people. “The primary healthcare centre is at times situated far away from remote villages, making it difficult for elderly, sick and poor people to access it. The Vimukti Van, equipped with doctors, nurses, other medical staff, social worker and full-time counsellor will bridge this gap by providing doorstep healthcare support to vulnerable elders. The Government Doctor, Rajendra highly appreciated Vimukti for the outreach program and termed it as a good initiative for the needy people seeking health care services. Also encouraged the good work being done by the health care team and requested them to help in making health care affordable. Dr. Shilpa after examining the newly launched Mobile medical unit from the inside, she said Mobile van is fully equipped with whatever is required in a clinic, adding, “I am hopeful that mobile health Van will achieve success soon. Many who attended the program applauded the good initiative taken by the organization. More than fifty people attended and witnessed the program.
