In democracy, it is not simply enough to inform voters about
election dates. In order to help the electorates take an informed
decision, it is quintessential to sensitize them about the
importance of participating in the electoral process. Moreover,
voters need to be educated about the process and made aware of the
political parties, their manifestos, backgrounds of the contesting
candidates and armed several other information to help them cast an
‘enlightened’ vote.
Vimukti staff along with village leaders has stepped forward to
spread the word about importance of voting and the right to vote. In
this connection, a Voters’ Awareness Week was organized by vimukti
Pothnal. The awareness drive about the right to vote was
successfully conducted under the guidance of the Vimukti at Pothnal
town as well as at targeted villages. The students and community
leaders actively participated in the campaign. Even the first-time
voters were also a part of the drive; they spread awareness about
the right to vote and also the importance of this right.
The Staff motivated the students to vote and cast their vote
righteously, Mass Awareness; with an aim to promote democratic
values, the campaign leverages both online and offline channels to
make voters aware of the value of their invaluable vote and how each
vote can strengthen democracy. An oath taking at the public places
made voters were of their value to the voting. The processions were
organized in major thoroughfares of the villages and people were
asked not to miss the opportunity of voting to elect an able leader.
As many as 158 students, youth, men and women participated in the
Voter’s Awareness Rally spreading the good word of voting
