On 20th of May, 2018 Fr. Sathish
Fernandes Pothnal organized the training on CHILDLINE 1098 for the
Government hostel children at Pothnal. Fr. Sathish Fernanders Child
Welfare committee member Raichur, made random visit to the hostel
and enquiry regarding facilities, and how the children are taken
care by the hostel in charge. After interaction with the children he
spoke about children rights, to create awareness on adverse impact
of child marriage, Child Sexual abuse, child line 1098, child
dropout, Child trafficking, Child labor, RTF, protection of earth,
health-hygiene and cleanliness etc., in the society. The session was
well interactive and though provoking. The underlying message of the
training was to take collective responsibility in protecting the
rights of children.
Further he explained saying “Children deserve to be heard. The care
and protection of children is everyone’s responsibility”, and he
stressed on the importance of helplines and explained the mechanism
behind the helpline system. Mr. Charlie Vimukti coordinator said
that everyone should join hands for the cause of children in need
and refer them to CHILDINE 1098.nearly 68 children benefited from
this program.
