Free the Child Laborers: Voice from Vimukti Children clubs
Child labor has been a global issue, countries, including the developed ones, is suffering from this social evil. Poverty and illiteracy are the main causes for the menace. Delivering the inaugural address at world day against child labour program Vimukti director said that majority of the children work due to poverty. “Lack of education among parents and poverty are the main causes of child labour”. In many families, elders force their children to work to financially support their families. Quoting a survey in entire manvi Taluka, Tadaka Government High school HM Subjal shri said that there are 25 thousand child laborers in the district. Who are working in the factories, garages, tea stalls, flaking cotton, and hotels etc, Thus eradication of poverty and educating parents on the ill-effects will help root out child labour. Students from tadakal high school participated in this program. This programme which was taken up with the co-operation of the children’s clubs and parliament members and organized the rally conducted this year in Tadakal Village. In this all our club-children were present. Rally began with a small in-put session and carrying of placards as all marched through the main roads of Tadakal. The Programme proper was held at the main place of the village. 42 children were identified and enrolled in the school of which 18 were regular and 25 are now enrolled in the primary school in various standards as per their growth. The dignitaries on the dais greatly appreciated children’s parliament members for their development in literacy, vocational skills like tailoring and crafts, acting and dancing etc,
