Training for Adolescent Girls in
the 22 Grma Panchyaths in Manvi Thaluka
There are main many stages in human life, Infancy, toddlerhood,
childhood, adolescence youth, adulthood and old age. Out of all these
adolescence stage is very crucial and also important where one undergoes
some physical, emotional and mental changes in one’s life. In this stage
if not guided and motivated properly there is every possibility that he
or she will either choose wrong path or lose the focus in life. Taking
this into consideration, vimukti charitable trust organized one day camp
especially for adolescent girls 18 GPs in Manvi Taluka.
The main objective of the program is to educate and guide the adolescent
girls to understand to accept their physical and emotional changes they
are undergoing. Secondly, to take good care of themselves during this
period of life, so that they become matured students at the school and
avoid fear and superstitions beliefs those are prevalent in the village
of Manvi thaluka
On 12th of April at 11.30 am, the camp for adolescent girls was
inaugurated by Fr. Sathish Vimukti Director Pothnal. He said in his Key
note that the adolescent girls should this as an opportunity to know
about themselves and their personal growth. Mr. Shankrappa the Head
Master of Government School, Mrs. Sharanamma AWW, Mrs. Bhasamma AWW,
Mrs. Parvathi AWW, were presented on the Dias. Mrs. Mallamma and Mrs.
Shankaramma were the resourceful persons for this training. They said
that it is understood that in the adolescent stage the girl is in total
dilemma of her physical development. The elders specially the women are
ignorant and ashamed to tell to young girls about the changes in the
body. They consider speaking about this issue is a taboo and that the
girls will learn all by themselves as they grow. They elaborately
described about the process of menstruation where the girls really
undergoes changes and most of the times left in confusion and fear.
There was very good discussion between the participants and resource
person and participants raised so many doubts and their daily problems
which aptly answered. All the participants were very happy and satisfied
with given answers. Many of the participants expressed that they were
ignorant about this things and were happy to be part of this camp.
There were nearly 1840 beneficiaries benefited from this training. Many
other related issues were discussed and guidelines given in order to
improve and live a healthy life in a given circumstances.. Mr. Amaresh
