Empowering Futures: Strengthening Adolescent Girls through Education,
Health, and Gender Sensitization: Vimukti Pothnal
Vimukti Pothnal
initiates “Adolescent Girls Empowerment Programme” with the
objectives of enabling adolescent girls to make independent choices
and take responsible, informed decisions with regard to their
marriage, relationships and economic freedom. The multi-faceted
intervention has resulted in reduced exploitation and violence
against the adolescent at the risk of abuse and human trafficking by
creating social and economic pathways to sustainable empowerment.
Vimukti has initiated a multipronged approach of girls’ empowerment
encompassing improved socio emotional life skills & awareness on
their rights and entitlements, facilitating easy access to existing
provisions and services for adolescent girls. Inducing vocational
skills for self-reliance is an important component of this programme
too. School level sessions are conducted to facilitate knowledge on
child rights, health issues and protection. nearly 155 adolescent
girls are benefiting from the program.
