"Healthcare is a human
right" says Bernie Sanders. Health care services aim to address the
physical, mental, and emotional needs of patients, promoting
wellness and treating illness or injury. Access to quality health
care services is essential for individuals and communities to
achieve optimal health outcomes and quality of life.
It was indeed a great day for Vimukti Charitable Trust® to
inaugurate affordable health clinic & care service in Banakal which
aims to cater the health care needs of people and community in and
around Muidgere taluk. Mrs. Sushela B L Senior PHCO of Banakal
Primary Health Centre inaugurated the centre and Fr. Prem Dsouza,
Guardian & parish priest of Banakal Church, showered God’s choicest
blessings on the centre. Fr. Arun Lobo, Guardian of Palya community,
Fr. Satish Fernandes, Director of Vimukti Pothnal, Fr. Vincent
Dsouza, Director of Vimukti Chikodi, Dr. Manjunath, HIO of Taluk
Health Centre, Mudigere, Sr. Shantha, PHCO of Primary Health Centre
Banakal, Ms. Sunanda, SHG member and Fr. Edwin Dsouza, Director of
Vimukti, Banakal were the chief guests of the inaugural celebration.
The primary purpose of this project is to provide medical benefits
and to promote the holistic and better health conditions among the
rural population in around 20 Villages located Mudigere Taluka in
Chickmagaluru district. Additionally, it would also be an excellent
occasion to impart better but requisite knowledge regarding causes
of sickness, social health condition and healthy living practices.
It will promote good health practices and behaviors through health
education sessions, generating health awareness among women &
adolescents e. g. importance of nutrition, mother & child health
(Anti Natal Care, Post Natal Care), hygiene and safe drinking water
etc., Along with it, dissemination information on health seeking
behavior through awareness campaigns including health meetings,
awareness sessions will be provided. The organization will educate
the healthy hygiene practices among the adolescent girls. As a part
of inauguration awareness session and health check-up was conducted.
A total number of 84 SHG women, staff of Vimukti Pothnal and
Chikkodi were present for this program. The Organisation extends
sincere thanks and gratitude to Catholic Health Caregivers Fund,
Newyork who are the primary instrument to venture into this health
care service. We also thank Fr. Norbert Dsouza, Newyork for
presenting our project and getting it approved and all the friars
who are rendering service in USA. Vimukti at Banakal remains
grateful to Fr. Alwyn Dias, Provincial Minister and council,
governing board members of VCT and Fr. Satish Fernandes for their
constant support and guidance.
