Vimukti Charitable
Trust® Pothnal in collaboration with the Province of Emilia-Romagna,
Italy, organized training on income generating to all the poor women
of the project area on 2nd, March 2023. Mrs. Jacinta the vimukti
staff briefed on the importance of self-help groups and functioning
and the aim of it. With their small savings, the women are meeting
their daily requirements, or meeting expenses related to illness,
marriages, or financing their small ventures. twenty-five SHGs each
have been organized into Clusters (total number of clusters is 25)
and all the 10 clusters. Vimukti, formation, and mobilization of
SHGs in the targeted villages of pothnal and surrounding villages of
Manvi taluka. The existing SHGs organized need further strengthening
and greater financial support for sustainable livelihood creation.
In order to overcome the crises and to provide the SHGs for
sustainable development, Vimukti has been encouraging and giving
handholding support for income generation activities in their
respective SHGs like jute bag making, Rotti centers, animal
husbandry, pickle preparation, garland making, embroidery and
various designs, etc.
Apart from this, the groups have also been imparted training in
child rights, sexual abuse, human trafficking, women rights, rights
and duties of panchayats, welfare schemes of the government, etc.
There were about 22-unit representatives present for the day’s
seminar program. The resource persons are Fr. Vincent D’Souza
Director Vimukti Chikkodi and Fr. Edwin Rakesh Director Vimukti
Bankal, who shared their rich experience and motivated, encouraged
gathered women to strengthen their existing SHGs strongly, in
collaboration and commitment. Nearly 120 women benefited from this
program.
