Vimukti adolescent
clubs have been set up in surrounding villages of Pothnal to improve
girls’ confidence, safety, and aspirations. The adolescent clubs aim
at improving skills and promoting the talents of adolescent girls as
a way for preparing her to become a responsible woman of our nation.
She will face the world with courage and confidence, without fearing
the circumstances or obstacles that may come her way for a better
tomorrow. The adolescent girls’ clubs are formed-regardless of their
caste, class, and creed- who come together as one to form a unit.
Clubs help the girls to feel part of their society and valued in the
community where they live. Vimukti staff sacrifice their time to
mentor and develop their skills, talents, self-esteem and build
confidence to speak out for the voiceless girls who are in bondage
and can’t speak for themselves due to various traditions and
customs. Nearly 650 girls, who profited from the programme,
expressed that they were ignorant about these things and were happy
to be members of this Adolescent girls’ club.
