Christmas program: ‘it’s a time of joy, a time of peace, and a time when
hearts are set free’. Vimukti Pothnal
It is the joyous moment
when we await the coming of the Saviour of the world, our Lord Jesus
Christ. Yes, the season of cheer and joy is here- Christmas. With
excitement in their hearts, our little sponsored children at Vimukti
eagerly await to experience the joy of Christmas. The celebration
was held in our vimukti auditorium. The entire auditorium was
beautifully decorated with flowers, festivals, lights, posters, and
models. All the sponsored children and staff members were very
excited and full of enthusiasm for the celebration. The Christmas
festivities commenced with a beautiful prayer song, led by the
children. The placing of the Babe Jesus in the Christmas star by our
Vimukti director Fr. Sathish Fernandes, along with few children
heralded the commencement of the Christmas celebrations. After that,
a man disguised as Santa Claus comes with a bag containing several
gifts. Santa Claus was roaming all over the auditorium giving
presents to all the sponsored children. Fr. Director Sathish
Fernandes wished everyone a very happy Christmas and also gave a
short motivational speech and asked the young children their
understanding of Christmas. Across the field, the answers were
‘gifts’, ‘sweets’, ‘Santa Claus’, etc. Whilst agreeing to their
innocently creative answers, Fr. Sathish Fernandes conveyed that
Christmas isn’t just about all these. All these are material facets
of Christmas; however, the real Christmas lies in the birth of Jesus
who came to teach us love, harmony, unity and forgiveness. The
vimukti staff appreciated the students for their amazing
performances. Mr. Jaysheela vimukti coordinator also shared his
views and said that the students had put in an excellent performance
and that he had enjoyed every moment thoroughly. Over 62 sponsored
children were extremely delighted to receive special Christmas Gifts
from Ensemble Agissons, France. Each family received as per their
choice, which are useful to their family like Electrical standing
Fan, electric stove, and Mixer Grinder and steel tiffin boxes etc.,
brought smiles on the faces of the families. Dignitaries on the dais
conveyed their appreciation to the staff as well for training the
children well. Mr. Argyappa presented the Vote of Thanks, and nearly
125 participants benefited from this program.
