trafficking is a great moral calling of our time….”
Vimukti Pothnal organized mass awareness programs in targeted
villages of sindhanoor Manvi, Sirvar talukas, Raichur District,
Karnataka from 12th, to 24th, October 9th to 17th, November 2022.
Our mission is to make a positive impact in our local community, by
promoting the protection and prosperity of local women and girls
with vocational training, advocacy, and awareness. Female children
are trafficked for marriage, sex-work, criminal activities, adoption
and organ trade whereas male children are trafficked mainly for
labour and exploited as beggars. Sometimes, trafficked children are
also recruited into armed groups or for criminal activities.
Lack of awareness on human trafficking is the biggest barrier to
prevent human trafficking, most of those victimised are either women
or minors (consisted of individuals under 18 years of age who is
recruited, transported transferred, harboured or received for the
purposes of exploitation,). Keeping this thought in mind VIMUKTI has
been creating mass awareness in the schools, AWCs, public places,
and in the residential area, so that children and women are saved
from these evil practices. Nearly 960 school children, 286 women and
110 men totally 1,356 families have benefited from this program
