The heartbreaking life
experience of Gauramma aged 16 and her determination surely
challenges our humanity. She lost her father and mother when she was
three years old. After the death of her parents, she was brought up
by her brother-in-law’s family. But that is not the end of her
life’s story, they found out later that she was deaf and dumb too.
Gauramma’s unexpressed great desire to live her life opened the way
to pursue her education at Dasanahalli village school situated at
Gangavathi. Being an orphan child, she was helpless too. When she
was tested for the possibility of ear hearing aid assistance,
teacher also told her about the government scheme. In her helpless
situation she remembered the Vimukti staff Mrs. Shilpa and sought
her help. In response to the child’s request, she called the child
help line requesting the ear hearing aid for Gauramma. As a result,
the coordinator of the Child Helpline and the Director of the
Vimukti distributed the ear hearing aid to Gauramma. Thanks to the
Vimukti Child help line for the immediate help and support.
