To realize the need of the hour and serve the purpose of the
people is the greatest wonder and the achievement of human being. As the
age old saying goes ‘Health is wealth’. The Vimukti Charitable Trust (VCT)
had been catering to the manifold plans, undertaking projects for the
welfare and the upliftment of the people in this region. ‘Health’ has
been the core issue, and the focus to attend to this issue is the prime
need during COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, Vimukti Pothnal organized
Blood Donation camp in Collaboration with Taluka Health department,
family welfare society and RIIMS Blood Bank unit Riachur on 4th April
2021 at Vimukti premises Pothnal. Dr. Rajendra explained the benefits of
the blood donation. Every healthy person can donate blood once in a six
month. It increases immune system of the body. It can keep one away from
cancer and other deadly diseases. Blood pressure and cholesterol can be
maintained due to this practice. Taluka health department administrator
addressing the gathering requested everyone to eradicate the virus
spread by mutual cooperation and service. Blood donation can save the
COVID-19 patients. We need to follow social distancing, use masks, wash
hands frequently to fight against the virus. If there are symptoms of
cold, fever, cough need to approach the doctor without delay. He thanked
the Vimukti director for organizing this blood donation camp. The
Vimukti Director addressing the gathering said that the pregnant,
lactating mothers and the children are highly in need of blood. The
program was also meant for creating awareness in villages on the
importance of voluntary Blood donation. ‘Give Blood-save life’
has been the motto of Vimukti. Thus, we can save the lives of many such
needy ones around us. It should be self-initiative we can follow. The
donors received certificate of recognition. For about 31 people
volunteered themselves to donate blood.
