Raichur organized District level children Parliament at Tadakal
Government High school premises on 27th of October 2019. In the
introductory speech Mr. Sudharshan CHILDINE Coordinator Raichur,
briefed on the common responsibility that everyone has in order to
protect children rights. Everyone has to work selflessly; this is
the purpose of the workshop training to instill in everyone the
concern to rescue the children. So the laws and regulations must be
followed in order to help the children in danger. In taluka level
the Tahasildar, education ministers as well as all the taluka
ministers of all departments and the public education department at
district level and all the heads of the entire department must work
unison to rescue the children in risks and protect their rights. All
of us should give heed their voice and create a platform better
future, Children are the future of our society. Building the
children future is like building our nation. In the region of
Hyderabad and Raichur there shouldn’t be any cases of atrocities or
mismanagement towards the rescue of vulnerable children. If the
children of the lower rungs of the society are not helped to get
education then we will possible fail to develop our families, our
society and our nation.
Over 221 children from the seven villages that come under the Manvi
Taluka limits participated in the “District level children
Parliament” (Zilla Makkala Hukkugal Samsath) at Tadakal School in
demanded immediate intervention of officials concerned in redressing
their grievances. By successfully listing out problems being faced
by children, especially those living in rural areas, these children
became a role model for their counterpart in other parts of the
Taluka. The children, guided by the non-governmental organizations
Vimukti Charitable Trust (VCT) and the Concerned for Working
Children had made all efforts to make the District level children
Parliament program was a grand success. The program started with the
prayer song led by 9th STD child Rajappa. The meeting was chaired by
Mr. Jyothi linga Gowda Tadakal(EO) Gram Panchayath, Utaknoor. He
said it was important that the State Government conduct capacity
building programmes to equip panchayats and officials and all civil
society groups which would be engaged in ensuring that the
children’s Parliament realized their full potential. Utaknoor Gram
Panchyat President Mr. Govindappa, Mr. kuber high school head
master, Mr. Sadashivappa Tadkal head master, Anganvadi teachers,
Basamma PHC staff nurse, Manikayamma, Mrs. Nagarathna AWC teacher,
Vimukti staff heard the grievances of the children.
Delivering the keynote address, by Fr.Sathish Fernandws CWC member
Raichur said detailed the need and importance of conducting such
District level children Parliament Program. The children raised
issues such as problem of drinking water and lack of sanitation
facilities in their villages. They also brought to the notice of the
authorities issues such as child marriage and child labour that were
prevalent in the villages. Problems being faced by people in rural
areas, especially school children, owing to the failure of
Electricity Supply regularly dominated the proceedings. The
authorities expressed their helplessness over sorting out the
problem of power supply as the Government had to deal with it. They
gave an assurance that in the next action plan of the GP, some
percentage of the funds would be used for children’s welfare
programs.
The Panchayat authorities assured the children of sorting out
problems regarding drinking water and sanitation facilities. Not
satisfied with oral assurances, the children sought an
acknowledgement from the authorities for having received their
complaints and wanted them to fix a deadline to solve the problems.
The authorities told the children that they would come back to them
after presenting the issues before the departments concerned.
CHILDLINE coordinator took great step to bring back the dropouts and
child laborers to schools. To achieve this, they planned strategies
like sensitizing the parents about child rights and the importance
of education.
At the end of children parliament program, the Vimukti collected
opinions of children who attended it. A primary school student,
Suresh from Uataknoor village said that - Till now we used to share
our problems only in front of our parents but after participating in
this program, I got the confidence that I can share my problem in
front of so many people and I am hopeful about getting solutions for
our problems. - He opined that after the implementation of the Child
Rights parliament, children need not feel inferior and suppress
their feelings and opinions.
All the officials present during the progrmmme has agreed to solve
all the problems raised by the children at the earliest. Children
were also suggested to present a memorandum to PDO citing all these
issues. Children dispersed from the programme with great relief that
they could raise voice for their rights and the problems are to be
solved soon.
PARTICIPANTS: There are 221 children Representatives and line
department officers from District had attended this training, and
benefitted from this training. Additionally, participants jointly
opened to each other by providing and receiving comments and
feedback constructively. In summary, they were very interested in
the training and participated in the training activities actively.
At the end of the training programme, Mr. Arogyappa, Women and Child
Development department Raichur gave the vote of thanks.
