Raichur Women staged Protest Demanding Women Voice in the Gram Sabha and basic entitlements before DC office: Vimukti Pothnal

Vimukti Charitable Trust in collaboration with likeminded NGOíS from Raichur staged a protest in front of Deputy commission office at Raichur on Wednesday 2nd October 2019 alleging that the elected representatives and the concerned officials had failed to utilize the allotted amount for the development of the Gram Panchathya and not allowing women, voice their views in the Gram Panchyath. Secondly Community women here demanded proper implementation of basic entitlements.

While people across the state celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi, 150 of women Representatives cross the district took part in this protest. Women came from various villages holding and shouting slogans in demanding immediately to basic entitlements and memorandum was submitted to the DC and CEO of Raichur to give in writing that they would do justice to their protest and take these issues very seriously. Fr. Sathish Fernandes VCT Director expressed before Media, the basic infrastructure problems of the school not cast a shadow on the studies of the children. Rather school infrastructure should also be suitable for environment for education. It is a right of every child to have access to toilet in their schools. However, no official from the department concerned has even tried to attend to the problems being faced by the students. Owing to lack of toilets most of the girl students at primary level quit their studies. Today we have government schools in the district but donít have clean drinking water facilities, compound walls, indoor outdoor games materials library books, etc.
