Child is meant to Learn, Not to
Earn. STOP CHILD LABOUR: Hundreds of millions of girls and
boys throughout the world are engaged in work that deprives them of
adequate education, health, leisure and basic freedoms, violating
their rights. Of these children, more than half are exposed to the
worst forms of child labour such as work in hazardous environments,
slavery, or other forms of forced labour, illicit activities such as
drug trafficking and prostitution, as well as involvement in armed
conflict. Each year on 12 June, this World Day calls everyone from
around the world, together with governments, employers, workers’
organizations and advocates for justice to highlight the plight of
child labourers and what needs to be done to help them.
An awareness rally was taken out on 12th of June, 2019, at Raichur
on the occasion of anti-child Labour Day. On this occasion the rally
began from DC office to Chandramouli circle via supper market after
passing through main streets in the city. The children actively
participated in this rally. Principal senior civil judge Biluru
Shankar Rao inaugurated the stage programme held later. Speaking at
the occasion, he said more than 16 lacs child laborers have been
identified worldwide." the traders and businessmen feel that the
child laborers available for merger wages. This is the main reason
for the increase in the number of child laborers, he explained. Due
to child labour practice, the children are being deprived of
education. Child line team members, along with school head master,
teacher’s panchyatha members, Vimukti staff and local line
department authority witness and actively participated in the
awareness rally. Pamphlets highlighting anti-labour practices were
distributed to the school children and people gathered. Oath was
taken by the participants assuring their support to eradicate this
evil practice. At the end of the rally milk packed and break past
was provided to the children and people.
