Vimukti Charitable Trust® - tailoring
center had achieved a remarkable progress in training and placing
many deserving girls/ women over the past years. The overarching
goal of VCT is to reach out to the youngsters who are school
dropouts and unemployed by imparting training that can ensure a
sustainable livelihood opportunity. While working with women in the
villages, the staff of the organization noticed that large number of
girls dropped out of schools, especially after class VII (at the age
13-14). Long distance from the village to the high school and lack
of public transport and discrimination against girls in education
were found to be the main reasons for large number of girls being
dropped out.
The overall objective of the training is to transform the school
dropout girls into catalyst of social transformation by building
their capacities for leadership and equipping them with vocational
skills. 83 dropout girls benefited from this training.
