JPIC National Conference of Capuchins in India-2019: Vimukti Pothnal
Theme: Celebrating the 800th
Anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi meeting the Sultan Al-Malik Al-
kamil(1219-2019)
The CCMSI-JPIC national team gathered in Kannur, Kerala on 20th and
21st May, 2019 under the leadership of Br. John Baptist, the
Capuchin Definitor General and Br. Ben Ayodi, the JPIC International
Secretary. Capuchin National action plan on peace building was set
up against the growing Religious Fundamentalism in response to the
M. Gandhi 150 and Francis 800 anniversary. To carry out this
forward, a National core group was set up JPIC team will work with a
core group of four friars to commemorate this year, the event of
Francis 800 and Gandhi 150. This meeting was organized by Br. Arun
Lobo the JPIC Secretary for India.
PROPOSALS FOR 2019-2020

Celebration of Transitus: on 2nd of October Interreligious level
– depending on the local culture and traditions and
sensibilities Franciscans, YOUFRA, OFS, AFFI

Formation: Involve in our Philosophate and theologate – a
seminars for a day, involving other religious leaders

Christmas Celebration: as Interreligious festivals – Keep the
venue in third Common place. Franciscans, YOUFRA, OFS, AFFI

Province level: Each province must organize a seminar for
friars.

Children and youth: Organize Schools and college events along
with PTA (Parents and Teachers) for Interreligious meeting,
cultural event etc. creation of peace clubs, competitions in
essays, dance, skits, etc. ending with Tree planting.
