organized International Child Helpline Day at Vimukti Central on 17
May 2019. The Day has been declared as such by Child Helpline
International to celebrate the work of CHILDLINE all over the world
and observed the day by raising awareness about 1098 and drawing
attention to the vital role of a helpline for every child.
The CHILDLINE coordinator Raichur stressed the importance of Child
Helpline No- 1098 and urged the participants to use the toll free
helpline whenever they come across crimes and exploitation against
children. “Children deserve to be heard. The care and protection of
children is everyone’s responsibility”, Further he explained the
importance of helplines and the mechanism behind the helpline
system. Rev. Fr. Sathish Fernandes VCT Director said that everyone
should join hands for the cause of children in need and refer them
to CHILDINE 1098. This toll free No. 1098 plays important role and
reaches out to children who are in vulnerable situations.
The gathered people pledged their support to CHILDLINE and
appreciated the assistance provided to children across the District
through the system of hiplines. The underlying message of the
campaign was to take collective responsibility in protecting the
rights of children. Where in nearly 92 stakeholders participated and
pledged their support to the initiative.
