Yoga for Harmony and Peace
Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice originated in
India. Yoga in Indian traditions is more than physical exercise; it
has a meditative and spiritual core. Yoga promotes relaxation,
reduces stress, helps to focus and concentrate our mind and improves
some medical conditions. It strengthens and balances all the parts
of the body. It is an excellent training for children and
adolescents, both as a form of physical exercise and for breathing,
focus, mindfulness, and stress relief. Briefing this knowledge to
the children at Sneha Jyothi Boarding, Pothnal by Fr. Elvin Lopes,
we celebrated the 4th International Day of Yoga with a title ‘Yoga
for harmony and peace’. It was magnificently organized; the children
themselves took up the lead. At the end of the event children
experienced a kind of equilibrium of mind and heart as they opined
their views. Yoga has become a part of the daily rhythm of life at
Sneha Jyothi Boarding. Children enjoyed the event with much ease,
relaxation and peace of mind.
