Vimukti women take initiative to create voters’ awareness

Vimukti organized an innovative campaign in Sunkanoor on Saturday when Vimukti women group visited each home and appealed the occupants to exercise their franchise without fail. Amidst hot weather women along with Anganwadi, ASHA workers and the school teachers, visited families and appealed them to compulsory cast their votes in the coming assembly elections. Women walked in the villages and distributed pamphlets among people to create awareness.

It is important for voter turnout that local and state voting policies and procedures are public knowledge. Often, voters do not know where, when and how to vote. Public awareness campaigns can encourage voter participation and make important information ubiquitous, thereby reducing barriers at the ballot box. Thus Vimukti spread the public awareness in the villages of our targeted area.
